I first came across Ren Gill and The Big Push via a Facebook Reel. I was immediately intrigued by the music, and it wasn't until they started singing that I figured out what the song was.

These Brighton Beach buskers cover everything from Black Sabbath to Depeche Mode, Nina Simone to Nancy Sinatra, Bob Dylan to the Rolling Stones, Bob Marley to Cyndi Lauper, The Black Keys to Ray Charles.

Here's the thing. Every song they cover is better than the originals, IMO.
Their cover of “Heroes” by David Bowie has turned into one of my favorite songs, and I never cared for the original.

There is a whole backstory of Ren's illnesses. He contracted Lyme disease, and it went undiagnosed and misdiagnosed for a long while. He's lucky to be alive.

Most of these videos are from 6 years ago, right before he got sick. He's recovered, and they just did a sold-out show in Brighton Beach.
